NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma Course Content

The course content is split into three units covering legislation, hazardous agents, equipment, and workplace safety. It’s assessed with one workplace assignment and two case studies.

• DN1: Workplace Health and Safety Principles

This unit provides an in-depth understanding of the key areas for managing health and safety. It covers moral, economic and societal drivers, health and safety law and management systems.

• DN2: Controlling Workplace Health Issues

Upon completing this unit, delegates will have gained an in-depth understanding of all major aspects of managing chemical, biological, physical and physiological hazards in the workplace.

• DN3: Controlling Workplace Safety Issues

This unit thoroughly explains how to create a safe working environment. It covers welfare, fire, dangerous substances, work equipment, electricity, construction, and transport.

NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma Assessment

The NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma is assessed entirely through practical activities and scenario-based questions. Each assessment is completed digitally and submitted to the NEBOSH portal for marking.

Unit DN1 is assessed with a practical assignment split into two papers:

• Paper 1: Scenario-based questions
• Paper 2: Workplace activities, reflective tasks, and a short research project

NEBOSH recommends you spend around 40 hours on your DN1 assignment. You will have 4 weeks to complete and submit your assignment electronically.

Units DN2 and DN3 are each assessed with a case study and scenario-based questions. NEBOSH recommends that you spend around 20 hours on each assessment paper. You will have 2 weeks to complete each assessment and submit it electronically.

NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma Pass Marks

You must achieve a pass in all three units to obtain your full NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma. Once you’ve passed all units, your grade is calculated by adding up the combined percentage mark for the three units and the following grading boundaries are then applied.

• Pass 150% -195% marks
• Credit 196% -255% marks
• Distinction 256%+ marks

NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma Course Entry Requirements

Since the NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma is an advanced qualification, the course assumes a certain level of prior learning, either through experience or completion of the NEBOSH General Certificate. That way, you’ll have the right level of knowledge to meet the demands of the course. Although there are no mandatory qualification entry requirements, you should understand fundamental health and safety principles such as risk assessment, hazard control, accident investigation, and key regulations.

It is strongly recommended delegates should have either completed the NEBOSH General Certificate or have at least five years of experience working in a health and safety role.

You’ll also need to have a good level of communication, good writing skills and be able to analyse information and apply it to any given scenario critically.
