Signing Lighting and Guarding Nrswa Training

New Roads and Street Works training, also known as NRSWA training is vital training to anyone who is working on the roads. The course is spilt into two sections with delegates either completing the NRSWA Operative or NRSWA Supervisor training.

The NRSWA Operative training course is made up of nine units these are as follows;

001 Location and avoidance of underground apparatus

002 Signing lighting and guarding

003 Excavation in the highway

004 Reinstatement & compaction of backfill materials

005 Reinstatement of the sub base and road base in non bituminous material

006 Reinstatement of cold- lay bituminous materials

007 Reinstatement of hot- lay bitumonous materials

008 Reinstatement of concrete slabs

009 Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways

The NRSWA Streetworks operative training is for delegates who are actually completing the manual work. This is generally a NRSWA training course which is covered over 5 days, the most popular public NRSWA courses which are run are units 1-6+ 9. But each training centre does tend to run the course differently, in durations and with the units which they offer. The Supervisor training course is made up of eight units these are as follows;

001 Location and avoidance of underground apparatus

010 Monitoring signing, lighting and guarding

011 Monitoring excavation in the highway

012 Monitoring reinstatement & compaction of backfill layer

013 Monitoring reinstatment of sub and road base in non bituminous materials

014 Monitoring reinstatement of bituminous materials

015 Monitoring reinstatement of concrete slabs

016 Monitoring reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways

The NRSWA Streetworks supervisor training is for delegates who are not carrying out any of the manual work themselves and they are only supervising to make sure that operatives are carrying out the work correctly. The NRSWA supervisor training course is also generally a 5 day course, but units and durations do vary per training centre. Once you have sucessfully completed the course each delegate is awared with a city and guilds certificate and a street works ticket. The street works card is an ID card with your photo and information with which units you have completed, so if you get stopped by the authorises you can show that you are adequately trained. When getting quotes for this training make sure that the certifications and card costs are in with the training cost and not added on top, as these total over £100 on the 5 day course.
