The low risk course is ideal for anyone entering a confined space where entry and exit is easy with natural ventilation.

Entry Requirements

Assessment

You will complete one practical observation, assessed by your centre trainer and one short answer written test to achieve their City & Guilds qualification. For in-house courses you will be assessed throughout the course by your trainer and earn a Project Skills Solutions Working in Low Risk Confined Spaces certificate.

Aims

This course aims to teach delegates:

  • Risk assessment of confined space hazards.
  • Types of gaseous atmospheres, portable gas monitoring equipment and their use.
  • The use of harness tripod, man-riding winch/fall arrest and safety lines.
  • Dealing with emergencies.
  • Appropriate behaviour for working in low risk confined spaces.
  • Relevant industry standards for working in low risk confined spaces.

  1. Prepare to enter and work safely in low risk confined spaces
  2. Enter and exit confined spaces safely
  3. Use equipment and tools safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications
  4. Follow procedures and work safely
  5. Deal with emergencies
  6. Use appropriate behaviour for working in low risk confined spaces in the water industry
  7. Use appropriate knowledge for working in low risk confined spaces
  8. Apply relevant industry standards for working in low risk confined spaces
