Overview

The CITB Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS) course is designed for supervisors or those about to step into a supervisory role.

By completing the CITB SEATS course, you'll understand all relevant legislation that affects the environment in the building and construction industry.

Aims

To help construction supervisors to:

  • supervise and protect the environment through legal provisions
  • protect the eco-system – the relationships and interactions between animals, plants (flora and fauna) and organisms and their environment
  • follow environmental management systems and processes to mitigate environmental damage
  • play their part in reducing statutory nuisance and disturbance to neighbours
  • manage the impact that archaeology and heritage can have on construction
  • control water consumption and reduce the impact construction has on natural water supplies
  • implement control measures to prevent the pollution of watercourses
  • identify ethically sourced timber though the chain-of-custody entering site
  • identify, control and manage contamination on brownfield sites
  • classify, segregate and properly dispose of waste.

  • Module 6 – Water management and pollution control
  • Module 7 – Resource management
  • Module 8 – Soil management and contamination control
  • Module 9 – Waste and material management

Course Details

  • Start time: Most of our SEATS courses start at 08:30, but this can vary by location.
  • Course duration: 1 day (7-hours)
  • You'll earn a certificate upon completion of the course. Your certificate lasts for 5 years.
  • CITB Site Safety Plus Accredited
  • Eligible for the CITB grant payment.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for the SEATS course. However, the course is designed for supervisors and delegates to be competent in English at site supervisor level.

CITB SEATS Assessment

You'll be assessed throughout your course by trainer review and by a short multiple-choice exam at the end of the day.

The exam is 25 questions in total, 22 multiple-choice and 3 multiple response questions that cover all aspects of the course content. The 25 questions are worth a total of 30 marks.

The exam pass mark is 80%, so 24 marks out of 30.

You have 30 minutes to complete the assessment and are allowed to use your workbook for the last 10 minutes.

    Course FAQs for CITB SEATS

    What ID can I use for my CITB course?

    When you attend a CITB Site Safety Plus course you need provide a form of photographic ID such as:

    • Passport: A valid passport of any nationality of the delegate – must not be more than 6 months out of date
    • Photo Card Driving Licence: A valid UK only driving licence with a photograph of the delegate – must not be more than 6 months out of date
    • Non UK Driving Licence: Showing a photograph of the delegate – must not be more than 6 months out of date
    • Work ID Card: Showing a photograph of the delegate – must not be more than 6 months out of date (if applicable) and refer to the delegates present employer
    • EU Country ID Card: Showing a photograph of the delegate – must be no more than 6 months out of date
    • CITB Scheme Card: Showing a photograph of the delegate – must be no more than 6 months out of date. Acceptable CITB Scheme cards include CSCS, CPCS, CISRS
    • Student ID Card: Showing a photograph of the delegate, as well as year of study (e.g. 2018/2019 or expiration date and name of the institution of study) – must be no more than 6 months out of date
    • Citizen Card: Showing a photograph of the delegate and be no more than 6 months out of date
    • Proof of Age Card: Cards issued nationally in the UK by VALIDATE UK, bearing the PASS hologram bearing a photograph of the delegate
    • Young Scots Card: Showing a photograph of the delegate – must be no more than 6 months out of date
    • British Armed Forces Card/Veterans Card: Showing a photograph of the delegate and for an employee or former employee of the Armed Forces only (not a dependent or spouse) – must be no more than 6 months out of date

    If a delegate does not hold any of the above ID documents they will need to complete a waiver form.

    Can I cancel my booking?

    We require 21 days’ notice before the course is due to start for all cancellations, if you cancel between 15 and 21 days’ before the course is due to start we can refund 60% of your course fee. Unfortunately if you do not give us at least 15 days’ notice we cannot guarantee any of your course fees will be refunded.
    We will try everything we can to recover your course fee, including selling your course place to another delegate, in this instance we can recover your course fee. This however is on a case by case basis.
