Coronavirus Notice Advice and Guidance

Coronavirus update blog from PSS

As countries around the world attempt to contain the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) we wanted to share with our customers the steps we are taking to minimise the impact to our customers and keep our customers and staff safe.

Booking with PSS

Before booking your course with Project Skills Solutions, our team will ask you a couple of questions.

  1. Will you be returning from any of the countries affected by the Coronavirus any earlier than two weeks before the course start date?
  2. Have you come into close contact with anyone you know to have been diagnosed with Coronavirus? Or, who has returned from any of the countries affected by the Coronavirus within the last two weeks?
  3. Are you experiencing a continuous cough or higher temperature, however mild, and booking a course starting within 7 days?

If you’re in a situation where government guidance recommends you self isolate we’ll ask you to attend a different course date.

Your course

We have provided education and guidance along with updates, as the government releases them, to all our staff. If your course trainer is visiting an affected country, comes into contact with anyone who has visited an affected country or who is diagnosed with Coronavirus, the course will be covered by one of our other trainers.

At the beginning of your course by PSS, delegates will be asked if they have been in contact with anyone known to have coronavirus or visited affected countries in the last 2 weeks. We appreciate your cooperation as we all work together to reduce the impact of this outbreak.

Your safety and doing our part to prevent the spread of Coronavirus is our main concern.

Training locations

In all of our locations, we and our third-party associates are taking precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus and to keep our delegates safe.

We are increasing the frequency of preventative cleaning and disinfection on hotspots such as door handles.

Ensuring hand wash areas are fully stocked at all times.

Providing information on hygienic measures in line with government guidelines.

Will your course run?

All courses from 24th March 2020 to 18th May 2020 have been rescheduled in line with government guidance restricting public gatherings. This will be reviewed as more information is released from the government. If you are booked on a course during this period our team will be in touch with options to reschedule your course. If you have any questions please get in touch with the team at [email protected].

CITB

Awarding bodies for popular courses are releasing key information regarding their certification schemes. CITB are providing a grace period for those not able to refresh their SSSTS and SMSTS certificates.

Any delegate whose SMSTS/SSSTS achievement has expired since 15 March 2020, and who hasn’t been able to renew in time due to COVID-19, will be allowed to take the refresher rather than the full course – this will remain in place whilst the current Coronavirus situation continues and will be reviewed on a regular basis. Currently, this is in place until the 31st January 2021.

26th March 2020 CITB announced they’ll be suspending levy bills for an initial 3 months to offer construction companies some much needed relief.

The CITB are providing updates here.

NRSWA

SWQR have released some information regarding NRSWA card reassessments. There will be an exemption for those whose card expires between 17th March 2020 and 17th September 2020 and who haven’t been able to get reassessed due to training school closures around the outbreak of COVID-19. You’ll continue to be able to work on that card but must get it reassessed as early as possible once schools reopen.

The October update on this has confirmed the 17th September date was the end date for exemptions and has not been extended.

More information can be found on their website.

November Lockdown

Currently, the government are allowing education throughout the November lockdown. Therefore, all our NRSWA centres are still opening and delivering in line with safety guidelines. Our classroom-based NEBOSH, IOSH and CITB courses are continuing unless the venue used is a golf club or leisure venue (and therefore shut as part of the government lockdown). If your course is cancelled because of this, and no replacement venue is found you’ll be informed as soon as possible.

Virtual NEBOSH, IOSH and CITB courses are available. Find out more here.
