The CITB SSSTS Refresher training course. This is a 1-day course for delegates to complete who have already completed the CITB SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) within the last 5 years. To sit on the refresher course you have to complete the CITB SSSTS refresher course within the 5 years of the expiry, if the certificate expires on the 15th February, as long as the course is completed by midnight of the 15th February, so the course would have to start on the 14th February. If your existing CITB SSSTS training certificate has expired more than 5 years ago you will need to complete the CITB SSSTS 2 day course again.
The CITB SSSTS Refresher courses with Project Skills Solutions start at 8.30am, books, materials, registration fees and the certification are all included in the price. All delegates who complete the CITB SSSTS Refresher training course have to be able to read, write and understand England at a good level in line with the CITB rules, if your delegate has any concerns over this please do not hesitate to contact the PSS Training Team to discuss.
What if I fail the CITB SSSTS Refresher?
If you failed the exam at the end of the day and any re sits which you took you then have 90 days of the original course under the CITB rules to re sit the test. This would be at an additional fee. You will need to provide a valid form of ID for the course, such as a copy of your passport or driving license. On successful completion of the CITB SSSTS Refresher course your SSSTS certificate is renewed.
During the CITB SSSTS Refresher training course the trainer will cover the following topics;
- How health and safety law is structured
- How the supervisory roles fits in with the managers role in controlling the site safety
- Understanding the need for method statements
- Construction Site Health, Safety and Welfare
- Communication routes within site activity
- Behaviour safety
- Supervision of occupational health
The above is taught through case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual or group presentations. During your SSSTS refresher training course you are continuously assessed and at the end of the 7.5 hour day there is a multiple choice exam.
